Fred Ferge helps us get the Olympic Spirit by demonstrating some real Olympic Style Exercises

Olympic Deadrow

Step One

  • Stand with feet under the bar, shoulder width apart or closer
  • Push weight back, bending knees to about 90 degrees
  • Flatten your back, and grasp the bar with a shoulder width underhand grip.
  • Keeping your back flat, straightening legs but with knees slightly bent
  • Straighten back ready to go
  • All repetitions begin from this position

Step Two

  • Keeping your back flat, lower the bar to the top of your feet.
  • The movement comes from the hips
  • Bend your knees slightly during the descent.
  • Stop the downward movement when you cannot keep your back flat.
  • Keep your body tight and in control
  • Do not pause or bounce or relax the back
