Famously Homme - Three Month Review

With Personal Trainer Steven Holmes at Precor Fitness, London Hilton Park Lane

Another couple of months have gone by, and yet another massive improvement has miraculously happened!

Previously it was Richards’s mind-set which had changed by accepting this huge challenge and making the time commitments to do it. This time, it is his physical fitness and effort in the gym which has impressed me the most. He just can’t seem to get enough of the exercises. I give him what I think is a hard or difficult session, and he just smiles and moves quickly to the next exercise.

I can now officially declare that Richard has turned into a real fat burning machine.

I have tried different methods of training to stimulate different areas of fitness (strength, stamina, cardiovascular and flexibility) and he responds very well in all areas. Best of all, and the one thing that makes the most difference in achieving your goals and targets, is Richard’s commitment and dedication away from our personal training sessions.

Lifestyle Choice for Good – There Is No Easy Route!

Richard has made a real lifestyle choice and because of this, he is sticking to it. He understands that to see results, he needs to change his everyday routine in terms of exercise, diet and commitment. But don’t fret…it doesn’t mean Richard is eating lettuce leaves and running 10 miles every day. Being the busy executive he is, he actually needs a good common sense approach to a balanced and regular diet (he enjoys his food) and makes sure that he makes the time for a workout about 4 times a week (he doesn’t wait to see if he has the time – he ensures he makes the time).

All in all it’s having a good balance all round, and about being aware or learning about your body and how to get the best from it. There’s no point in trying to take the short or easy route – it won’t work – and your personal trainer will know…(and work you harder next time!).

Boost Your Metabolism Regularly

We all lead busy lives but we all can make time for ourselves. Even quick and simple ideas go a long way, and there’s lots of great ways to boost your metabolism such as the ones I covered in my recent feature. Why not give them a go and just feel and see the difference in no time at all.

Try Out a Circuit

One great session (tough but effective) is the old fashioned circuit style workout. It does everything!...It’s really time efficient (you can squeeze it into a short lunch time), it will work your heart and lungs (it’ll get you breathing really hard), it tones and conditions your entire body (believe me, you’ll feel a good burn everywhere, just ask Richard!) and gives your body a quick boost (you’ll be feeling really alert for hours afterwards).

The workout I did with Richard had a very simple structure and the principle is easy to follow. We worked every major muscle group trying to do large compound movements but only for a minute each (and that’s long enough I can assure you!). Ensure that you are always using the correct and safe technique and that you have the appropriate weight/resistance (if it doesn’t hurt, it’s not heavy enough!).

We started each of the 3 circuits with a 2 minute burst of cardiovascular exercise to get the heart rate up - the rest of the exercises were done without any breaks and quickly enough (but still controlled) to help keep the heart rate up. A short, sharp shocking workout to help get you to the next level and remind you what your body is capable of.

For those of you who might be interested, I will write up Richard’s circuit in my next feature………
