Famously Homme - the Male Lifestyle Case Study Week 33

Following Famously Homme through the 33rd week of making busy Executive Richard Curson into a Lean, Mean, Fat Burning Machine

This week I am getting my head around my Upper and Lower Abs.

I absolutely hate doing abs exercises! Well I did hate doing them, until now. I have put effort and energy into quality abs workouts and as a result I am actually enjoying doing it! Crazy isn’t it? No one enjoys doings abs work!

My Flabby Tummy (Lower Rectus Abdominis)

My tummy (Lower Rectus Abdominis), although now heading towards a six pack, still has a bit of skin and fat hanging and doesn’t want to shift. I do feel like heading to Harley Street for a nip and tuck!

When I sit down it pokes out and reminds me of the days when I was barely able to squeeze into a trouser size 46 inches! Now I am a comfortable 32 inch waist so don’t want any of it poking out, apart from the muscles of course in the form of a six pack – that’s ok.

My Upper Rectus Abdominis is gaining shape and strength but does feel a bit spongy as though there is some fat there but not as bad as the lower part. I want my abs to feel hard and solid.

I am determined to loose the gut and gain the GRRRRRR

ACTION

A:

I am making sure I do at least 3 lots of good cardio a week to strip the fat off.

B:

I have introduced new Lower Abdominals Exercises into my regime including Reverse Crunch & Swiss Ball Crunch.

C:

I am doing all of my Abs exercises lower and more steadily and am feeling like I’ve done a tougher workout afterwards and the day after too!

CARDIO FAT BURNING TIP

When treadmill running I run at a high speed for a about 5 minutes then cut my speed to bring my heart rate down and I will run at that speed for about 10 minutes before repeating the high speed chase again. This process, known as interval training, burns off calories currently in use from recent food intake during the high speed chase then attacks the fat when speed is reduced to within your optimum fat burning training zone. Interval training is considered to be the most effect when trying to lose fat!

Do I Need To Rest My Abs?

It is crucial that you rest muscles the day after doing a hard workout and the same applies to abs - certainly as fitness levels improve and you are training your abs for a six pack.

When I was really overweight I was told to do abs exercises every day which I did. What that did back then is help build my fitness levels so that now I am able to do a really good intensive abs workout in a slow controlled way. This really tears my abs muscle fibres – but that will eventually sculpt my six pack provided I allow the muscle fibres time to repair. Now I am resting my abs the day after an intensive abs workout to build good strength in these muscles and achieve my goals!
