Meet Paul Mumford

Paul discovered the benefits of exercise and a healthy lifestyle a little later than most – like many of FamouslyFit´s expert feature writers!

At school, he was a little podgy kid who hated any kind of sport, always got picked last for any team and would do anything to avoid the cross country runs. He spent the next 10 years smoking, drinking and eating junk. He wasn't a great specimen.

Now it's all a little different. He stopped smoking, cut out the pies and loves a cross country run. To top it all he went back to college, re-qualified in personal training, massage, diet & nutrition, walked away from a successful career presenting breakfast radio and took the plunge.

Now Paul has a real passion for fitness and a healthy way of life because he knows it works. Maybe that makes him a text book case. A good example of how regular exercise and a healthy, sensible diet can really change your life - make you feel younger - give you more energy and a longer life.

Paul’s career in fitness has gone from strength to strength. He now runs Mumford Phys. Ed. and prides himself on re-educating people how to live better healthier lives.

He works with over 40 clients a week at health clubs in Essex and amongst his clients is a 16 year old who, with Paul’s help, now plays for Essex. He also looks after triatheletes, mountain bikers and runners. Many of his clients have been with him from the start of his business nearly 7 years ago.

As well as this, Paul writes regular articles and columns for fitness magazines, has done TV and video projects for QVC and FitPro and is currently working on new projects that combine his knowledge in fitness with his former career in presenting.

Paul has an ‘out of the box’ approach to fitness which stays true to the fundamentals. He is always looking for new ways to challenge his clients and draws on his knowledge and creativity to make sure they don’t get bored. He’s not like most 'personal trainers' or 'life coaches' because he’s learned the hard way - from personal and professional experience and not just a pile of text books.

Paul has joined the FamouslyFit team and will be concentrating on helping our readers develop healthy and strong backs…..a part of the body that we tend to ignore in our passion to develop flat abs and a six pack!
