Meet Jo Emma Larvin

Jo Emma Larvin joins the team and chats up the Celebrities and Stars

    Howdy folks,

    I'll start by introducing myself.....

I am a northerner who adopted London as home many years ago. I hail from East Yorkshire - Hull to be precise. I left when I was 17 - though you'd never guess by my accent which is totally un-changed.

I was actually born in Poole, Dorset, then raised and brought up in Hull from about 2 years old.
At school, art was my favourite subject. I was a little shy at sports which makes it surprising that I now love fitness & even ran 2 marathons!

After moving to London I soon got into modelling and had various assignments from Vaseline to Suzuki to bikinis & calendar shoots. It was from modelling that I got the taste for TV & acting.

I did some TV shows including the Generation Game and The Big Break. I also did some music videos working with some great names like Stereophonics, Tom Jones, Benny Benassi (with whom I appeared on Top of the Pops) and more recently Mcfly. I have also done a few films and I'm currently between filming a trilogy called Rough & Ready. It's a comedy based in Yorkshire which I'm really enjoying filming.

Because of the work I do it's pretty important to keep in shape and I do try and look after myself, though I must admit I do need a reason to spur me on. I first got into running when I was propositioned to run the London Marathon in 2009. I had never run before and managed it in 4 hrs 11 minutes. Something I'm very proud of.

Since getting the taste for running I now do a lot of charity runs and I have been involved with Dogs Trust. I am also the face of RGT (Retired Greyhound Trust). I ran this year´s Virgin London Marathon for Breakthrough Breast Cancer whom I continue to work with. I have recently started running with a friend and that's a great incentive and motivator.

My goal for next year is to complete the Virgin London marathon in under 4 hours which I know I can do with the right training/diet. I'd also love to do a mountain climb, a bike ride and possibly a triathlon (well maybe a mini). I'm not a huge fan of going to the gym all the time and I tend to prefer outdoor and indoor activities. I tried bikram yoga this year and really enjoy that. I even managed a bootcamp last year! I have a BIG golden retriever called Sonny who I walk miles with - we really love walking.... and walking.... and walking!!

So my fitness regime looks something like this:

I walk my dog every day, 1-2 hours. I run 3-4 times a week, sometimes 5 k and at least once at 10k. I've recently been doing short bursts of sprinting up hill, which I can really feel in my bum - yay! By mixing up the types of runs it stops me getting bored. I try and do a yoga class once a week - something I've only recently started but enjoy. It's great for stretching out my legs after the running. I have recently moved and having settled in I'd like to do ice skating lessons. I love working out and been active but I can get bored so it's important for me to vary things.

Food wise – I am very much into nutrition and generally eat a lot of healthy food, which I love. However, I think I'm pretty much the 80-20 type. I eat healthily 80% of the time allowing for treats now and then. I have some staple healthy habits, like I only drink water & herbal teas. I've just never been into coffee & fizzy drinks. I always choose brown over White as in bread, rice etc. I'm not into creamy salad dressings either - I prefer lemon, oil & balsamic. I always add vegetables to meals when I can. I get my protein from plenty of fish and seafood as I don't eat meat. I get organic whenever I can.

I do have a huge sweet tooth which I have to keep in check. I find it hard not to eat small portions of cakes and yummy things (even my shower gels are all toffee & caramel & nutty smells) - so try not to keep them in the house – and of course staying active is paramount to burn off those excess calories.

I am very happy to be on board here at FamouslyFit.com and looking forward to getting all the inside info and tips from some of our favourite sports personalities!!

I have some exciting stuff on the way....... with celebrity interviews from the worlds of football, boxing (nope not the ex!), rugby and much more……..so watch this space – literally!
