Holly Matthews - Happy, Healthy and Pregnant

    Holly Matthews started work as a professional actress at the tender young age of 11. Staring in hit childrens TV series Byker Grove.Holly's character Emma Miller was a lead character in the Byker Grove for over 7 years, where she had many exciting storylines and worked with some very established actors and directors.

    Holly's character Emma eventually left the show to seek fame and fortune in London as a pop singer, something Holly was already working on herself, in real life.

    So like life imitating art Holly Matthews met with top London record producers and eventually signed a recording contract with Sony UK.

    Holly's single 'Little Miss Perfect' which was released under the name Summer Matthews, reached number 28 in the UK charts and number 1 on the Chart show. The 'Little Miss Perfect' music video was played constantly on the music channels MTV, The Box, TMF and Flaunt.

    During Holly's promotional tour under Summer Matthews for 'Little Miss Perfect', Holly raised her profile by appearing on TV shows such as Top of the Pops, MTV, TRL, CBEEBIES, CBBC, Blue Peter, Loraine Kelly's show and The Saturday Show.

    Holly has also featured in tons of UK magazines and newspapers such as The Daily Star, Heat,Top of the Pops magazine, Shout, Sugar, J17, More, Hot Stars, Hello magazine, O.K. magazine, Elle girl and the high brow Daily Mail

    After Holly's single was released Holly was eager to get back to her acting roots and was awarded a place at the critically acclaimed UK drama school East 15, where Holly refined her skills as an actress and learned more about her craft.

    Holly was then offered the role of Leigh-Ann Galloway, the school bully in the BBC's prime time drama Waterloo Road, where she starred alongside great British actors such as Angela Griffin, Denise Welch, Jason Merrells and Jamie Glover.

    Since her role in Waterloo Road, Holly has continued to work on some of the UK's top TV programmes, including ITV's The Bill, the BBC's day time soap opera Doctors, the critically acclaimed Criminal Justice 2 and the BBC's primetime Saturday night hospital drama, Casualty.

    Holly is a busy young actress who has also appeared in pantomime for the last few years, tons of short films, her first feature ' The Dinner Party', played the role of Juliet in a UK tour of Romeo and Juliet and been a presenter on the most popular under 5's radio show CBEEBIES on BBC radio 7.

    She is also keenly into health and fitness, raising money last year for the British Heart Foundation by doing the Great North Run and attending regular fitness classes/seeing her personal trainer to keep in shape.

    Holly is about to undertake her biggest role yet as a first time mum, her baby is due in April this year and Holly is thrilled at this exciting new stage in her life.
