Biography Neil M White

Neil M White has always loved sport. As a boy he played hockey and football, representing his school at both. Later, at University, Neil took up Ultimate Frisbee, helping his team to win the British Universities title in 2004 and representing a Glasgow/Edinburgh select in the British league.

After moving to Glasgow, Neil then took up trail running, competing in a number of local events. It was soon after this that he moved to East Africa to live and work where he continued to run using a stretch of the Trans-African Highway as his high altitude training ground.

The long African nights gave Neil a chance to focus on his other passion: writing. On returning to the UK, he decided to pursue his writing further, penning features for scientific journals, blogs and online magazines. Neil now combines his two passions; writing and fitness, to great effect.

Neil takes his fitness very seriously, hitting the gym 2-4 times per week and training in Muay Thai boxing up to 4 times per week. Neil says “I love the physicality of Muay Thai and I like my training to have a focus. I’ll do lots of functional and bodyweight exercises in the gym – moves that will give me speed and power whether sparring or in the ring”.

He is also studying towards a YMCAfit Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification in his spare time.

Now writing for Famouslyfit.com, Neil focuses on new fitness trends. He says “I’m always intrigued by new trends and fads in the world of fitness and so writing for Famouslyfit.com gives me the chance to look behind the headlines and really examine the effectiveness of some of the newest and most ground breaking fitness trends”.
