Biographies - James Spelman and Steve Peat

    JAMES SPELMAN

James was born in 1987 in Cheltenham, Gloucester. He joined the Parachute Regiment looking for the challenges that would come with being trained by highly professional soldiers providing the best training available. Sadly, James was discharged in December 2009 as a result of an injury - severe fractures to his foot.

But he was not going to let that beat him. Within two months of his discharge, he completed an 8-mile multi-terrain race carrying 30 lbs of weight in a day sack. And if that was not enough, only one week later, he was off again on a 12-mile multi-terrain race. Boy, he is sucker for punishment because he had also increased the weight to 35 lbs. Most recently, James went on another half marathon carrying 30 lbs in weight and beat a team of serving soldiers carrying the same weight. What an achievement.

James is passionate about fitness and wants to get to a sufficiently high level so that he can return to recruit training one day. He is passionate about it. He just pushes himself higher and higher to see what he can achieve. He sets himself a clear goal and does everything he can to get there. Because he is so passionate, he has not got much time for those who make excuses - saying things like "the weather is bad", or "I am not feeling well" or "I have not got time"

James is excited about joining the team at Famouslyfit.com because it will provide him with a great opportunity to show us all what we can achieve without the luxury of a gym, and also just how much the human body can achieve once you build up your mental strength.

    STEVE PEAT

Steve Peat was also born in Cheltenham in Gloucester, in 1976.

Steve joined the Parachute Regiment in 1992 at the age of 16. Even at that young age, he wanted to be in the army and wanted to be the best that they could offer. It was important for Steve to adopt a lifestyle that took him as far away as possible from the world of drugs and crime that so many of the people around him were getting involved in. He wanted to prove to himself that he was much better than that - and through blood, sweat and tears he got what he had always dreamed of.

Steve served with the Parachute Regiment for 13 years - taking him to many different countries including Kosovo, Sierra Leone and four tours of Northern Ireland. Steve was also privileged enough to become an instructor at the (ITC) for Parachute Regiment recruits - and it was during this time that he feels he saw some of his greatest moments and achievements. Having the opportunity to turn young men - from all backgrounds - into professional soldiers and feeling the pride they and their parents felt was simply outstanding. He is extremely proud of the fact that he has helped to change so many lives for the better.

Steve has also run multi-terrain events carrying a 30 lb daysack. He has also competed in the Edinburgh marathon.

Joining the team at Famouslyfit.com provides Steve with even more opportunity to continue to influence and train others, and to share the training routines that he has practiced over the years to get himself into top form.

Famouslyfit.com welcomes both James and Steve and know that we will all be put through our paces over the coming months!

Both James and Steve actively support Help for Heroes- a registered Charity that provides supports our wounded.
